10 Worst Domain Names

Choosing a Domain Name? Beware These Hilarious (and Awkward) Examples!
A couple of days ago, I was searching for clever domain names – names that would stick in one’s mind… part branding exercise, part curiosity. What I ended up finding were a lot of rather hilarious domain names! At first glance, some might seem a bit dodgy, however, they all appear to be relatively innocent mistakes. The following is a list I found, and I’m sure you’ll get a bit of a chuckle…
A Collection of Unintentionally Funny Domain Names
Here are some classics where the web address could easily be misinterpreted:
How fast can you… express artistic creativity? Or perhaps something else entirely? It’s meant to be about creating art quickly! - www.whorepresents.com
The adult industry seems resilient regardless of the economy. Good thing this site, focused on ‘who represents’ whom (like agents), has absolutely nothing to do with that… - www.penisland.com
Looking for a land dedicated to writing instruments? Or maybe somewhere… else? This Pen Island site likely caused a few raised eyebrows. A holiday might indeed be needed after figuring that one out. - www.powergenitalia.com
Need a bit more power? Just plug it in… oh, hang on, it’s actually an Italian Power Generation company? Right then. - www.cummingfirst.com
Okay, so I never thought it was a race… This domain belonged to the Cumming First Methodist Church. Probably not the first impression they intended! - www.ipanywhere.com
Concerns about bathroom mishaps? Apparently, this site (likely about IP addresses) has absolutely nothing to do with needing to ‘pee anywhere’. My random bedwetting anecdote remains just that – an anecdote! - www.therapistfinder.com
Let’s tread carefully here. Finding help is important. But read that domain name quickly… does it say ‘Therapist Finder’ or ‘The Rapist Finder’? Yikes. - www.expertsexchange.com
If you’re seeking specialised professional services, you’d want experts. Maybe even compare a few? This site, for ‘Experts Exchange’, probably wasn’t aiming for the ‘expert sex change’ interpretation. - www.molestationnursery.com
As someone with a ‘black thumb’ who struggles to keep plants alive (lucky I’m a better father!), even I’d be hesitant to visit a place called ‘Mole Station Nursery’. The intended name is harmless, but the run-together version is disturbing. - www.itscrap.com
Justifying something as bad generally isn’t great. I really dislike negativity, so I definitely wouldn’t be heading to a site called ‘Its Crap’. Unless, perhaps, I needed parts for building a computer? In which case, ‘IT Scrap’ might be quite useful… - www.nobjs.org
This could be misinterpreted quite easily, especially out of context. Turns out it stood for the North of Boston Jewish Singles group. Phew!
The Takeaway: Choose Your Domain Name Carefully!
It seems many of the funniest examples unintentionally stray into suggestive territory. Oh well, who am I to argue with humour? The main point of this article is to raise awareness of how easy it is to pick a domain name that could be interpreted as something entirely different! Be careful in your selection when setting up your online presence, unless, of course, you’re deliberately aiming for a bit of edgy humour in your business life!
